Project Mail - Final

Project piMail

On a final update, project piMail was a success (so far) and completed on 2019Dec07. Though currently not much to look at, the mail server has been up and running for almost a week now. The unit (pi 3wh) is currently sitting in the server rack and gift wrapped in an old 3d printed case to protect it until I have time to print a good case. Who knows, I may even 3d print a rack mount for it. A few nominal changes include:
  • Static IP on hardwired eth0
  • Replace 7" display with 3.5" display
  • Wifi Disabled
The gateway router has also been updated to point port forwarding to the new static IP address. I have disabled wifi now since there is no need to have both interfaces up, but I also created wifiUp and wifiDown shortcuts on the desktop to allow me to turn it back on if I so desire. Overall, I am on my 10th image snapshot but today I deleted all but the last 3 images. The pi is using the latest version of Buster w/desktop. I may remove the display all together but I installed wireshark so that I can do a quick network capture if needed. I have slightly modified the squirrelmail php code to add a few custom features and some security restrictions which do not come with the out of the box download. Though I do not normally make changes which may be overwritten by an update, I wanted some additional customization. I have made copies of the code changes in the event an update does wipe them out so I can put them back in.
