Square 1st Impressions

Forums:

My first impressions of Square are good ones. I have signed up for a developer account and their free site. I may possibly look at some site development for others if they would rather pay someone to do the work for them. Overall, the web side, which appears to be using Weebly for hosting, is not overly difficult to manage if you have had any web experience. Some of the trickier parts, again this is a "first" impression", may take some time to get used to. I will have to dive a little deeper to determine how many "tricky parts" they allow though. I have created a very simple site using their free setup and within a few minutes I was able to create a site for ADayInIT. Domains and URLs If you opt for using their free site, you will be limited to hosting it using a subset their domain name. This means that your site url will be https://yoursitename.square.site and noting again.. it is FREE! and includes E-Commerce. Now this may be perfectly fine for someone who does not want to pay anything for hosting and certificates for a secure connection (https). Trust me, certificates are not cheap and for a business that is just starting out or someone who just wants to sell "stuff" it may be all you need. Multi-site SAN certificates can cost you a thousand or so per year. If you want to use your own specific domain URL such as mysite.com then you will need to sign up for a paid hosting package which uses Weebly for hosting. Their pricing is reasonable for a Personal site at around $6 per month at the time of this article and I believe it includes an SSL certificate. Time is running short but I will come back to this page shortly because there are many more good things to say... abitowhit
