Getting rid of Powered by WordPress

Forums:

If you are using the TwentySeven theme in WordPress and you are looking to get rid of that pesky Powered By WordPress semantec blah,blah in your sidebar, it secretly resides here:

/wp-includes/widgets/class-wp-widget-meta.php

Search down the file until you come to the section that mentions "Filter the Power by...." Update the highlighted pieces with your own text and hit save.
/** * Filters the "Powered by WordPress" text in the Meta widget. * * @since 3.6.0 * @since 4.9.0 Added the `$instance` parameter. * * @param string $title_text Default title text for the WordPress.org link. * @param array $instance Array of settings for the current widget. */ echo apply_filters( 'widget_meta_poweredby', sprintf( '<li><a href ="%s" title="%s">%s</a></li>', esc_url( __( 'https://247Coding.com/' ) ), esc_attr__( '247Coding.com.' ), _x( '247Coding.com', 'meta widget link text' ) ), $instance ); wp_meta();
Then say goodbye to "Powered by WordPress, state-of-the-art semantic personal publishing platform", at least until you do an update or update your theme. You're welcome...
